Basciani Family

Family Values and a Tradition of Quality

You don’t last four generations in a family business without family values being of paramount importance. Hard work is one of those values. “This is not a business where you get a scheduled vacation,” says Michael Basciani, Sr. It’s a year-round, wake-up-in-the-dead-of-the-night-to-check-the-temperatures business. It’s labor-intensive, and the workers do some back-breaking work. “You gotta be a people’s person,” Basciani says. “If the workers don’t see you working harder than them, it’s not going to motivate them. You have to be the example!”

BASCIANI FOODS does everything. We grow all sizes of white mushrooms and exotics, we pack for national retail grocery store chains as well as for foodservice distributors, we have multiple processing and storage facilities in the United States, we ship over 1.5 million pounds per week! All of this, enables us to provide customers with the highest quality prime products on the market.

Becoming #1 is a goal, but not an obsession. “Bigger isn’t always better,” Basciani says, “But if you constantly strive to be better… bigger just seems to follow.”

Quality Culture

When selecting a mushroom supplier, look for a company that keeps the focus right where it belongs – on quality. From day one in 1925, Emedio Basciani made a commitment to giving our customers a superior-quality mushroom. Today, over 90 years later, four generations of Basciani’s honor that commitment using the latest growing and packing technologies, along with traditional work ethic to provide consistency and execution, day-in and day-out. Our Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems are verified by third-party GFSI audits.

Whether receiving, packing, storage, maintenance, sanitation, or transportation logistics – everyone takes ownership and pride in our Quality Culture to deliver the highest quality mushrooms products available.

Third-generation Members and Senior Leadership of the Basciani Companies

Richard A. Basciani Sr., Mario J. Basciani Sr., and Michael J. Basciani Sr. (seated left to right), all individually possess over 50 years of experience working in the production and wholesale of mushrooms and other produce. The three have no plans of slowing down in their futures. They share a vision of continued growth and success for the Basciani Family and the mushroom industry as a whole. With their persistent, unrelenting care and guidance, the Basciani brothers hope to construct more growing rooms and expand Basciani Foods facilities to accommodate tens of millions of pounds of mushrooms more annually, over the next decade.
